We wanted to do a brief tech discussion & description on the SSR SX50. There have been a lot of conflicting information online and we want to put out the correct information on the SSR SX50 and our Orion X-50.

Orion has actually been selling its own model of the SX50cc, the X-50, on and off for about 3 years. We have assembled, riden, tested and wrenched on the SX50cc extensively so we have a pretty good grasp of them.

This is a very small bike. We compare the SSR SX50/ Orion X-50 to the size of a Yamaha PW50. The suspension is very beginner. Even though the front forks are oil filled they are small in diameter. The rear shock is a spring over coil setup and has only about 4" of travel. This bike is only recommended for riders less than approximately 50lbs.

The brakes are cable operated calipers and the rest of the components, bolts, etc are small by design. This is not on the performance level of a KTM 50 or a Cobra 50 but it was never designed for that either. This bike was designed for the beginner rider that is going to stay on the ground mostly and learn how to ride.

The SSR SX50/Orion X50 is powered by a 49cc 2 stroke motor. Because its a 2 stroke you have to mix oil and gas. The motor is a pull start but we must warn you. It does not take much pull to start it. We recommend using your elbow to pull it not your back or shoulder or you will break the pull cord. We do have pull starter/cord assembly here if you need it:

Just remember this is a small kids bike and is not designed to jump or race like some of our other pit bikes. We recommend that you evaluate thoroughly the riding needs, size, etc of the rider before you purchase to make sure you are getting the right model.
